AN ENAMELED PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLE
IMPERIAL, JINGDEZHEN KILNS, JIAQING SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN BLACK ENAMEL AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)
The circular bottle is decorated with two panels of scholars out of doors enjoying the Four Scholarly Pursuits (siyi), of playing the qin, chess, reading books and painting. The narrow sides are decorated with a gilt 'fish-roe' pattern on an iron-red ground.
