Lot Essay

The back of the dial of this exceptional regulator deisplays evidence to suggest that its signature has been altered. The movement, signed by French on the back plate, is a beautiful example of the company's best quality work. It is quite possilbe that French were orignally commissioned to make this clock for sale by a retailer who would have requested their name on the dial, but for reasons unknown it ended up being sold by French.
