APOLLO 11 ASCENT CHART – LM Ascent Monitoring Chart—Sheet 3B. 16 July 1969 Launch Date - Landing Site No. 2. Edition 1. Aeronautical Chart and Information Center, USAF for NASA.
Eagle's ascent orbit chart, just like the one used on Apollo 11
SIGNED and INSCRIBED: "Number 1 on the Runway, Buzz Aldrin LMP," his actual words to Mission Control as he and Armstrong headed for lunar lift-off. A solid white line moves westward from the Tranquility Base landing ellipse denoting the flight path for Lunar Module Eagle. Time ticks are marked on the line from lift-off plus 2 minutes until just past plus 7 minutes with the identification of orbit “INSERTION.” The Sabine series of craters are labeled plus Ritter, Schmidt, and Dionysus craters. These would have been seen outside Aldrin’s window and allowed verification that the ascent was proceeding on time as planned. These events were performed and monitored using Page 13 of the Apollo 11 LM Timeline Book (see lot 11).
Chart based on Lunar Orbiter photography, 12.5 by 35.75 inches. Scale 1:630,000. Item ID Ascent Monitoring Chart, SEB00025-006, 16 July 1969, Site 2.
