Lot Essay

"A shadow is something that has been cast. It proceeds after the projection of light over an object that, in being lit up, throws a pattern of darkness and light over the ground to form its surrogate imprint. Brad Lochore's paintings, entitled 'Shadow', provide an image of something that has never existed as an originary object." (A. Wilson, 'In Between. Shadows', in: 'Brad Lochore', London 1998, p.1.)
