Lot Essay

Conceived in plaster in 1939 and cast in bronze in 1961 in an edition of nine, plus 0/9, an artist's copy. The original plaster was broken up in the casting process.

This work will be included as BH113B in the forthcoming revised catalogue raisonné, currently being prepared by Dr Sophie Bowness.
