The present watercolour was from a group of albums assembled circa 1850 from the collection of John Allnutt (1773 -1863) and which were sold in these Rooms on 17 November 1987 where they formed lots 76 - 128. The greater part of the collection was sold in these Rooms, June 1863. Allnutt was a merchant banker who also owned a successful wine and brandy business. He was a patron of Sir Thomas Lawrence and James Ward.
