Lot Essay

Isaac, elder brother of the future emperor Alexis Comnenus, held the key position of duke of Antioch during the reign of Michael VII, at a time when the Turks were threatening Asia Minor. At one time he was their prisoner. He left Antioch just before Nicephorus III Botaniates came to power (1078).
