Lot Essay

The very free handling of the pen is closely comparable to that in a number of late drawings by Zucchi such as the Adoration of the Shepherds in the Louvre or the Age of Gold in Princeton (E. Pillsbury, 'Drawings by Jacopo Zucchi', Master Drawings, 1974, 1, pls. 8 and 9).
