Lot Essay

A study by Ango after the Cumaean Sibyl is in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (French Master Drawings of the 17th and 18th Centuries, Art Gallery of Ontario and elsewhere, 1972-73, no. 2), while a drawing incorporating other elements of the Sistine Chapel decoration was sold in these Rooms, 5 July 2005, lot 164.
