Lot Essay

A native of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, Mi Gengyun (1910-1998) started studying landscape painting at a young age, becoming one of Zhang Daqian’s most well-regarded disciples. He was a member of the Shanghai Artists’ Association and the Shanghai Calligraphers’ Association, as well as a librarian at the Research Institute of Culture.
