Lot Essay

These "wraparound" shirts are replicas of Kirk's informal outfit designed by William Ware Theiss for Star Trek: The Original Series. Kirk first wore the wraparound in "The Enemy Within," where Theiss used it to help the audience tell the difference between Kirk and his transporter-created twin. The Star Trek: Enterprise versions of the costume were slightly more tailored than the originals, making them more flattering to the actor.
