Roy Rogers and Dale Evans
Nicknamed "The King of Cowboys", Roy Rogers, was born Leonard Franklin Slyein in 1911. He remains one of the most enduring icons of American culture. A two-time inductee into Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame, Roy Rogers along with the Sons of the Pioneers, a western cowboy music group he formed, had a syndicated radio show and recorded 32 songs for Decca records. After these successes Rogers went on to appear in over 100 films. For his contributions to the motion picture industry he has three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Dale Evans, born Frances Octavia Smith and later known as "The Queen of the West", was born in 1912. Rogers and Evans first starred together in the The Cowboy and the Senorita" and married in 1947. The two created their own production company and began producing The Roy Rogers Show that ran from 1951 to 1957. In addition to her successful television shows, more than thirty films and some two hundred recorded songs, Evans wrote the well-known song "Happy Trails" that she and her husband performed together as the sign-off of The Roy Rogers Show.
In addition to their show business successes the couple was recognized around the world for their charitable actions. They were great advocates for adoption and also founded many children's charities. Rogers and Evans are remembered equally for their extreme talents and compassion.
Reference 6036
The reference 6036 is the third generation of the celebrated "Dato-Compax" Oyster triple calendar chronograph model produced by Rolex. This reference was available with various dial layouts and cased mainly in yellow gold and in stainless steel. The case of the present example stands as a lovely and unmolested example obviously cared for by its owner, Roy Rogers.
