The head of Buddha Shakyamuni displays a serene facial expression with mother-of-pearl-inlaid downcast eyes below arched eyebrows and smiling lips. His elongated earlobes are pierced and his hair and ushnisha are covered with minute spiral-shaped hair-curls; traces of later gold foil.
