Lot Essay

We are grateful to Mr. Everett Fahy for the attribution. The anonymous Master is probably identifiable as Filippo di Giuliano (1449-1503), who is known to have shared a workshop with Jacopo del Sellajo - with whom he shares clear stylistic links - and whose name is 'repeatedly linked with Sellajo's in documents spanning a twenty-year period' (E. Fahy, op. cit., 1967, p. 133).
