TWO ITALIAN GREAVES, ALMOST FORMING A PAIR, PARTLY COMPOSITE
Circa 1580
The left greave slightly taller than the right, each hinged on the outside, with the outer plate cut square across the base and with turned roped edge, unturned top edge with a pair of turning-pins for the poleyn, and the inner plate not forming a full joint with the inner side of the front plate, slightly boxed at the rear, with turned roped edge top and bottom, and fitted with buckles and modern straps.
