TWO IVORY MODELS OF OXEN-DRAWN CARTS
POSSIBLY LUCKNOW, INDIA, 19TH CENTURY
Each on rectangular base on four feet, the larger chariot with implements hanging beneath from its frame and axle, drawn by two richly harnessed oxen, a family sitting beneath the wicker cylindrical shelter, the father steering while smoking a large huqqa, a dog walking beneath, the other cart intricately adorned, flanked by attendants carrying parasols, maces and other implements, with two seated nobles, one chariot with old inventory number inscribed at the base
