etching, 1636, the very rare first state (of three), before the straightening of the slight indentation in the sitter's left cheek, a fine, delicate impression, with an unidentified Crowned Coat of Arms watermark with pendant initials MM, with small margins, some very pale, unobtrusive foxing, a crease at the lower left corner, remains of old mounting at the reverse right corners, laid to a narrow strip of paper at the reverse left sheet corners, otherwise generally in very good condition
