Swiss. A fine and unusual 18K gold and enamel half hunter case jump hour cylinder watch, made for the Turkish Market
Unsigned, no. 4515, circa 1830
With gilt-finished cylinder movement, plain three arm brass balance, the gold cuvette with translucent white enamel on engine-turned background and finely pink champlevé enamel floral and foliage decoration, the white enamel dial with inner ring for the minutes with Turkish numerals to the quarters, single hand, window for the jumping hours with Turkish numerals, subsidiary seconds also with Turkish numerals, in circular case with translucent white enamel and blue and white champlevé enamel floral decoration, similarly decorated pendant and bow, two glazed apertures to the front revealing the jumping hours and subsidiary seconds, both surrounded by painted green and blue enamel flower decoration on pink enamel background, the reverse centred by a painted polychrome enamel trophy of musical instruments and flowers on scalloped pink enamel cartouche, unsigned
