With finely engraved skeletonised nickel-finished jewelled lever movement, the blue dial with outer ring indicating month and sign of the zodiac, luminous hour hands, the rotating centre piece depicting the earth seen from above the North Pole with outer rotating silvered perpetual calendar ring, the moon rotating around the earth, the dragon-hands indicating the eclipses of the sun and the moon, a flexible spring bending from the Tropic of Cancer to the Tropic of Capricorn to reveal the part of the earth lit by the sun and to indicate the time and place of sunrise and sunset, the heavy circular case with blue enamel Roman numerals on the bezel, glazed back, together with a platinum Ulysse Nardin buckle, Ulysse Nardin Certificate, original fitted wooden presentation box and outer packaging, case, dial and movement signed

Lot Essay

The platinum version of this model was produced as of 1991 in a limited edition of 99 examples only. It is part of Ulysse Nardin's Astronomical Trilogy consisting of the Astrolabium Galileo Galilei, the Planetarium Copernicus and the Tellurium Johannes Kepler models.
