Sale catalogue compirising 1,694 lots, of the outstanding collection of German literature of the classical and Romanic periods. The catalogue is still valuable as all items are described with complete collations. Wolff, who was only 25 years old when his collection sold in Frankfurt, used the revenue from this sale to start his own publishing company and became an eminent literary publisher in Germany. He published numerous notable writers, including Franz Kafka, Franz Werfel and Robert Musil. After he emigrated to the United States, he founded Pantheon Books and published Boris Pasternak, Giuseppe di Lampedusa and many others. Wolff's collection of incunabula was sold in 1926 (see next lot). Not in Blogie. This issue without the index. Folter 798.
