Contemporary vellum, covers with a gilt curve and leaf border on a blue wash background, enclosing a gilt roll of leaf spray, gilt-stamped initials in centers "SR," smooth spine gilt-lettered on a blue wash panel with a repeated lattice pattern, green water-silk linings, edges gilt concealing a fore-edge painting of MILNES BRIDGE HOUSE YORKSHIRE (blue background faded, original slipcase chipped and worn); original red morocco slipcase gilt; modern quarter morocco folding case. Provenance: S. R. (initials on front and back cover); Eliza Rogers (signature in ink dated 1844).
