The front of the plinth with wheel and engine mounts, the glass chapter ring with two-tone black and red painted Roman chapters and retail signature for GREENLEAF & CROSBY CO., blued steel hands, aneroid barometer with glass dial above and thermometer with off white enamel scale to the side, the movement with pierced-out plates stamped 90/7096, three wheel train and Brocot escapement, driven by ball bearings, each ball falling in turn at intervals onto a three-tier ramp and rolling into an individual bucket on a conveyor belt independently driven by a single barrel movement in the base, the latter tripped by the clock movement every minute via linked levers; under brass-bound glass cover; pendulum, key

The present clock is almost identical to an example shown at the Exposition Universelle of 1900 and illustrated by Planchon in La Revue Chronométrique that October.
A clock of closely related design, with black marble base, was sold Christie's London, Important Clocks and Marine Chronometers, 1 July 2005, lot 54.
