AN UNUSUAL IRON-RED-DECORATED BLUE AND WHITE DEEP BOWL SHEN DE TANG BO GU ZHI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE, 16TH 17TH CENTURY
Decorated on the exterior with a continuous foliate scroll composed of ruyi heads surmounted by clusters of three peaches alternating with shou characters positioned above lotus blossoms, the center of the interior with a medallion of a fruiting branch and a shou character below a band of flowerheads at the rim, all in underglaze blue reserved on a rich iron-red ground

The mark, shen de tang bo gu zhi, may be translated, 'Antique made for the Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue'.
