SCARCE BIRD'S-EYE VIEW OF LONDON looking southwards from its northern vantage point. 'The technique allows individual buildings to be distinguished, and the relationship between railway viaducts and the houses over which they soared is clearly seen on the South Bank. Central London was not yet recognisable in its modern state. A rural air still pervaded Wandsworth and Camberwell' (Glanville 51).
