With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1991 and its subsequent sale on January 22nd of the following year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe wooden presentation box, outer packaging and 18k gold additional snap on case back
To the best of our knowledge, this watch has never before been offered in public.
This watch was produced for the 150th anniversary of Patek Philippe.
The manufacture of reference 3979, the legitimate successor of reference 2524/1, was launched in 1989 with movement number 1'904'000, with the majority cased in yellow gold. The model is no longer in production.
It is fitted with the ingenious calibre R 27 PS which impresses not only by its remarkable number of 342 parts but also by Patek Philippe's masterly performance of combining a micro-rotor and a minute repeating mechanism in a proportionally small 12''' movement.
Reference 3979 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by O. Patrizzi, vol. II, plate 1138, p. 272.
