Lot Essay

The present watch is an appealing version of reference 6098 cased in 18k pink gold as opposed to the more common stainless steel. More importantly it is fitted with the charming honeycomb dial and highlighted with the sought after star-shaped numerals, more commonly associated with the celebrated reference 6062.

The rarity of the present watch is further enhanced by the retailer Serpico y Laino, Rolex's retailer in Caracas, Venezuela, signed on the dial and stamped on the attractive rice grain pink gold bracelet.
Reference 6098 is illustrated in Rolex Collecting Modern and Vintage Wristwatches, by O. Patrizzi, vol. II, p. 268.
