Of crude construction, comprising a barrel formed of a copper-alloy jacketed steel tube that has exploded at the breech end, the breech containing the remains of a British .303 MKVII cartridge case, the barrel fitted to a hand-carved stock and retained by three metal bands, the rear of the stock formed as a butt and with a copper-alloy tube fitted behind the barrel forming a guide for a long firing-pin, the stock also with a number of nails that originally held the elastic cord which was used to (unsuccessfully) detonate the cartridge, with textile sling
