With heavy browned swamped octagonal barrel cut with eight grooves, signed in silver at the breech and with tangent back-sight, patent breech with integral blued scroll engraved tang bearing later peep-sight, foliate engraved case-hardened detented lock with safety-stop in front of the hammer, figured walnut full stock, chequered grip, fore-end and sliding patch-box cover dated 'July 1845' on the inner side, raised cheek-piece, chequered stained wooden trigger-guard (cracked and repaired), foliate engraved brass mounts, set trigger, iron sling mounts, and later ramrod
