THE PORCELAIN CIRCA 1725, THE DECORATION ALMOST CONTEMPORARY, IRON-RED BJS MARK TO BASE
Decorated at Augsburg in the Seuter workshop, the raised ribbed egdes, shoulder and footrim of the caddy richly gilt, the panels at the sides gilt with vignettes on strapwork and scroll supports, the vignettes with a squirrel, a hawk and a rabbit alternating with Oriental figures, one seated beneath an elaborate canopy, one with an Oriental smoking and one with two Orientals by a tree, the circular flat cover edged with a gilt band, the top with a gilt scene within a moulded raised edge enriched with gilt husks (wear to gilding, cover with extensive wear to scene and minute shallow chip to underside edge of rim)
