CIRCA 1724, THE BOX WITH BLUE K.P.M BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, GILDER'S 29. MARK TO BOTH
The box of bombé form with a flared footrim, each side with an Oriental flanked by shrubs on a terrace within elongated quatrefoil gilt cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels edged with gilt and red scrolls, the ends with indianische Blumen and insects, a gilt band border below the rim, the domed, moulded stepped cover with an octagonal knop finial flanked by two Orientals on terraces within an octagonal band of iron-red geometric ornament and an octagonal band of gilt interlocking scrolls and gilt band border (areas of slight wear, the cover with some firing cracks)
