A FLEMISH GAME-PARK TAPESTRY
16th Century
Woven in wools, depicting to the foreground a lion attacking a fox, beside them another fox or wolf, the right background with a bull and a cow and to the left with a lake landscape with a deer and doe swimming and two ducks in the distance, within a wooded landscape, and a tree to the left with a parrot and to the right with a monkey, the right background with a hilly landscape with a town beyond, within a border with fruiting and flowering sprays divided by strap-work cartouches and to each side by a female herm figure, the top corners with a vase with grotesque masks and the bottom corners with a vase issuing floral and fruiting sprays, within a patterned border and a blue outer slip, areas of reweaving, the lower border extensively rewoven
