A George II walnut quarter chiming longcase clock

The feather-banded case with deep canted angles, double skirt to the plinth, shallow arched trunk door, the hood with reeded chamfered angles, elaborate foliate pierced and chased gilt-metal sound frets to the sides, shallow pagoda top flanked by well modelled gilt-metal urn finials, the dial signed Samuel Thorne London in the matted centre with seconds ring and calendar aperture, pierced blued steel hands, silvered chapter ring with half hour markers, Indian mask-and-foliate spandrels, strike/silent ring in the arch flanked by dolphin finials, the substantial three train movement with six pillars, anchor escapement, the hours struck on a large bell, the quarter chiming on a nest of eight bells via eight hammers
