MID-19TH CENTURY, POSSIBLY PIEDMONTESE
Pierced and foliate carved throughout, the deep buttoned padded back with a fan and S-scroll top rail and with shuttered panelled stiles and with scrolled foliate carved and padded arms, a drop in seat with bowed fluted and C-scroll carved rails, on tapering foliate and spiral carved legs headed by lion mask and rosette blocks (2)

Lot Essay

These chairs bear similarities to the designs of the Bolognese architect Pelagio Palagi (1775-1860), who designed the furnishings of the Palazzo Reale, Turin, for the Savoia family.
