A pair of Chinese wucai 'dragon' bowls, Daoguang marks and possibly of the period
each decorated on the exterior with a continuous scene of two iron-red and green dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls, amidst leafy flower sprays and fire scrolls, alternating with two descending phoenix, all below a narrow band of bajixiang ('Eight Buddhistic Emblems') alternating with ruyi-heads below the rim, the interior with a medallion enclosing a leaping dragon pursuing the flaming pearl amidst fire scrolls, underglaze blue Daoguang seal marks -- maximum 6¼in. (15.8cm.) diam. (2)
