Lot Essay

Although better known for his glass designs, Auguste Heligenstein married the ceramist Odette Chatrousse in 1923 from which date he pursued a dual career in ceramics and glass. Originally exhibiting his work at Geo. Rouard's Parisian gallery, in 1926 he transferred his work to Edgar Brandt's gallery.
