A Restauration ormolu striking mantel clock with novelty pendulum, circa 1820
The rectangular case flanked by the figure of a youth with a wand, a milky glass ball moving before his hand with the swing of the pendulum, with a gadrooned urn beside him with further glass balls, mounted with shells, the stepped rectangular base with a mount cast as Cupid astride a floral garland, with lanceolate leaf gallery and on scroll and flowerhead cast feet, the Roman dial with engine-turned centre and signed on a reserve LE JEUNE BARRET A BOULOGNE SUR MER, blued steel moon hands, the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell -- 15½in. (39.5cm.) high
