Baker, Richard. Free of the Clockmakers' Company 1685, d.1700. Apprenticed to John Chatfield through the Blacksmiths' Company, then transfered in 1683 to Richard Browne, clockmaker. Made a freeman in the Clockmakers Company in June 1685 by redemption by order of the Lord Mayor. Died in 1700 but in 1710 his wife Jane is still recorded as carrying on the business and taking on an apprentice (see Brian Loomes The Early Clockmakers of Great Britain, NAG Press, 1981, p.66).
