AN OUDENAARDE GAME-PARK TAPESTRY
16th Century
Woven in wools, depicting a lion hunt, with various hunters on horseback and on foot attacking a lion with many dogs surrounding it, to the right with a couple flanked by cupid and to the left with a hunter and an elder approaching, set in an open wooded landscape and the background with large buildings and a river before a hilly landscape, the border with figures of the Virtues within recessed arches divided by vases of fruits and flowers, to the bottom and top with a vignette of an eagle, within a yellow outer slip, areas of reweaving and patching and the main field possibly reduced in height
