A circular green canvas, rope and wood campaign bath, [circa 1897], 24in. diameter, 9½in. high, with painted initials 'L.E.G.O.' on one side panel. Provenance: Lawrence Oates (initials).

A fine memento, recalling Oates army service overseas; [Together with:] J.WESTON & SON (photographers), a studio portrait photograph of Lawrence Oates, Eastbourne: [circa 1896-8], head-and-shoulders photograph (6 x 9cm.) on card mount (17.8 x 12.2cm.) Provenance: Mrs. Caroline Oates (later inscription on verso); [And:] an interesting collection of Oates momentos, the bath recalling his army service and the portrait taken during his time at a crammer at South Lynn, Eastbourne, Sussex.

Caroline OATES. a 5pp. manuscript will, London, 9 Dec. 1903, written recto only, appointing her four children executors and trustees and giving detailed instructions for the disposal of the estate, listing various bequests, some perhaps more wellcome than others '...Violet should have a Wildebeest head...' (Mrs. Oates signature clipped from each leaf.), contained within envelope. (3)
