Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the production of the present watch with this diamond-set silvered dial in 1958 and its subsequent sale with the 18K white gold bracelet on 24 March 1959.
It is thought that less than 20 examples of reference 2526 in platinum have appeared on the auction market so far, out of which less than half feature the silvered matte dial with diamond indexes. The present watch is furthermore an exclusivity as being originally delivered with the 18K white gold bracelet by Gay Frères, confirmed by Patek Philippe's Extract from their Archives.
It is interesting to note that this watch was recently serviced in the workshops of Patek Philippe in Geneva and has not been worn since the completion of the overhaul.
Other examples of reference 2526 are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, first edition pp. 168-169, second edition pp. 213, 216-217.
