Lot Essay

The arms of the cider jug relate to the Lloyds of Queen's Village, Lloyds Neck, on Long Island and are most likely that of the merchant John L. Nelson Lloyd, son of Henry Lloyd II. See D.S. Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, vol. II, p. 660. The arms of the second jug are most likely that of Kershaw.
