Lot Essay

William James Muller travelled extensively during his life. Accompanied by the watercolourist George Fripp he, visited Germany, Switzerland and Italy. They arrived in Venice on 29 September 1834, where they stayed for two months before continuing to Rome. He is perhaps best known for his Venetian and Middle Eastern scenes.
