[TEXTILE]. MCKINLEY, William (1843-1901), President. Printed banner with large circular portrait captioned "William McKinley, Ohio," with his campaign slogan, "Patriotism, Protection, & Prosperity," on a scrolling ribbon beneath; background of white stars on a bright blue ground. [N.p., 1897].
Silk, printed in blue and black (11 5/8 x 18 in.), edges neatly hemmed. Preserved in a sunken mat with marbled edging, matted and glazed in a very fine wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
A striking banner reportedly sold at the dedication of President Ulysses S. Grant's tomb in New York, 1897. H.R. Collins, Threads of History, 1979, no.787.
