An important Northeast Indian, Pala style, phyllite stele of Vishnu

The four-armed deity standing in sambhanga on a lotus base resting on a shaped plinth which is carved with tendrils, male and female donors and small Garuda figure, his principle hands holding sankha and cakra while both others are broken and displaying the gada, wearing dhoti, bejewelled, his face with almond-shaped eyes, elongated earlobes with ear rings, high kiritamakuta, flanked by Laksmi holding camara and Sarasvati with vina and two smaller figures, the arched mandorla with throne and centered by a kirrtimukha flanked by a pair of apsaras and elaborate scrollwork, all finely detailed
