The body with two large rectangular panels depicting scenes from the famous Yuan dynasty novel, Xixiangji (Romance of the Western Chamber), one side with the scholar Zhang asleep within his studio dreaming about his lover, Ying Ying, the other panel with Zhang climbing over a wall in a clandestine nighttime meeting with Ying Ying, her attendant, Hong Niang, beside her, separated by shaped panels painted with landscapes and floral motifs, all reserved against an iron-red foliate ground, the shoulder encircled by a band of auspicious emblems within shaped panels reserved on a diaper ground, the neck with further quadrilobed panels painted with landscapes
