A George III mahogany longcase clock, circa 1780
The case with breakarch hood surmounted by later giltwood flambeau urn finials resting on fluted pilasters, glazed side panels, outset brass top fluted columns, conforming three-quarter pilasters flanking the breakarch trunk door, on plinth with quatrefoil panel and wavy apron, the brass dial with foliate scroll spandrels and foliate engraved centre, subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture, signed on a disc in the arch Geo. Maynard MELFORD, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 94in. (239cm.) high
