With a name that represents Conway, Arkansas and Twitty, Texas, Conway Twitty never lost sight of his country music roots. He was one country artist who was able to parlay his skills into the pop arena helping to make the rockabilly style a successful cross genre of music. Having had more #1 country records than any artist in history Conway Twitty's career survived teen heartthrob status (as the model for Conrad Birdie in the Broadway musical Bye, Bye Birdie), and changing styles in music as well as hair. His success spanned five decades, which included a Grammy Award and several Country Music Awards validating his long-lasting talent.
