Taihang Impressions : He Baili | Weng Zuqing

Hong Kong, 5-27 June 2019

Christie’s is pleased to present Taihang Impressions, a selling exhibition of contemporary ink paintings by the acclaimed artists He Baili and Weng Zuqing. Featuring 48 recent works, this two-person exhibition presents a new body of landscape paintings portraying the famed Taihang Mountains in northern China where the magnificence of nature reigns supreme. In choosing the Taihang Mountains as their subject, He Baili and Weng Zuqing continue a long tradition of depicting the northern Chinese mountain range. A fortuitous sketching trip the two artists undertook together became catalyst for bold artistic experimentations that culminated in lyrical studies of Taihang, transfigured by light and colour, evocative of the powerful connection between man and nature.
