On 17 October 2006 Christie's will host the Post-War & Contemporary Art sale at our King Street salerooms. The sale boasts a mixture of expensive highly sought after works of art as well as works by younger artists.

The sale will offer a broad selection of works from the Post-War era, known as one of the most creative periods of the 20th century. European Post-War art includes a 1950 painting by Serge Poliakoff, a rare and early sculpture by Jean Dubuffet from the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, a beautiful abstract painting by Gerhard Richter as well as a selection of Spanish art by the likes of Manolo Valdes, Antoni Tapies and Miquel Barcelo amongst others. The sale has a strong English School section with a large painting by Leon Kossof, an early drawing by Lucian Freud, as well as a selection of Etchings by Freud. American Post-War art is also well represented with works by Donald Judd and Roy Lichtenstein as well as a large "Dollar Sign" painting by Andy Warhol.

The sale also includes Contemporary art, with an important selection of Chinese art including works by Yue Minjun, Yan Peiming, Zhang Huan and others. The Leipzig school of young German painters is also well represented with works by Daniel Richter, Thomas Scheibitz and Frank Nitsche. The sale also includes a strong grouping of American artists such as Karen Kilimnik and Richard Prince.

We would be delighted to welcome you to the viewing of this sale, which will begin on 11 October at our South Kensington sale room in London. Should you be unable to travel to London, we would be pleased to send you further information on any piece which is of interest to you, so please do not hesitate to contact us.
