Under €5,000

Designed for Hermès by Jean Paul Gaultier in 2005, this pink Kelly Pochette may look petite, but it packs a serious punch. One of the classic Hermès handbags reimagined under Gaultier, the Pochette has become a collector favourite. Rose Confetti, the new-for-2016 shade, can be worn year-round, day or night, and is in extremely high demand. In Grade 1 condition, this is a collector’s find.

€5,000-10,000

In 1959, an Hermès designer — herself a working mother — created a revolutionary shoulder bag for women on the go. Today that model, the Constance, is one of the most coveted in the world, and the only one designed by a woman. Considered by many collectors to be one of the most difficult bags to obtain, the size 24 is the largest shoulder Constance on the market. In Bleu Saphir, a classic Hermès shade, and accented with palladium hardware, this Grade 1 bag is estimated at only €5,000-7,000.

€10,000-20,000

Notoriously difficult to find, lizard pieces are today among the most desirable exotics, and many collectors are willing to pay a serious premium for this special material. This size 25 Birkin in Braise, the brightest and most saturated red hue, is a fantastic collector’s exotic at a starter price point.

€20,000-30,000

This Bleu Saphir alligator Kelly 20 is lusciously shiny, and its symmetrical scales produce a geometric pattern across the exterior. With gold hardware and a removable shoulder strap, this collector’s piece can transition seamlessly from date night to gala event.

€30,000-50,000

For the collector who has it all, a one-of-a-kind horseshoe creation could be the jewel in the crown. Crafted in two complementary yet contrasting shades of shiny porosus, the most desirable exotic leather, this standout piece is both subtle and substantial. At an estimated €40,000-45,000, this knockout Birkin 30 has the potential to be a family heirloom for many years to come.

€50,000+

The Diamond Birkin is a holy grail among Hermès collectors, and of all Diamond Birkins, the Mat Noir is the most elegant. For the past three years, Christie’s Diamond Birkin sales have set world records for handbags offered at auction. This one has an estimate of €70,000-90,000, and represents an opportunity to take home one of the most valuable handbags in the world.
